Emergent, Inc. (Emergent) is seeking a Human Resource Generalist. The Human Resources Generalist role will provide support to the Emergent, Inc. (Emergent) Corporate Functions. Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Provide a broad range of human resource services to an assigned business unit(s) in support of objectives, strategic goals, and human resource initiatives
  • Perform diverse and complex assignments covering a wide range of HR functions such as employee/labor relations, staffing, compensation planning and management, organization development, affirmative action, and training
  • Interprets, executes and develops policies and practices across the workforce to ensure consistent and equitable treatment
  • Serves as the primary interface between managers, employees, outside agencies and others concerning HR related issues  
  • Defines and implements short/long term HR initiatives in support of assigned business unit's strategic objectives
  • Counsels and coaches employees, supervisors and senior management in addressing performance and behavior challenges
  • Serves as the investigative resource, coordinating with legal counsel on issues pertaining to employment charges or litigation  
  • Coordinates and delivers training on subjects including performance management, discipline, Emergent behaviors, etc.  
  • Participate in organization design and restructuring to ensure optimal organizational effectiveness
  • Develop strategies, plans and tools to deliver specific messaging around integrity and compliance, business wins, program and employee recognition, industry and market trends, and other news
  • Support business initiatives and decisions from an internal communications perspective developing communication plans and easy to use manager toolkits
  • Engage with communications team, business units, key leaders, and support functions as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
  • MS or MBA degree with a concentration in Human Resources, Organization Development, Training or related discipline and 4 years of professional HR experience OR     
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Business Management with a concentration in Human Resources, Organization Development, or related discipline and 5 years of professional HR experience
    Additional Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with internal communications; outstanding communication skills including effective writing skills for web, social media, executive messaging and presentations
  • Demonstrated workforce planning 
  • Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters and conducting investigations
  • Project planning, proactive and directive HR consultation with client organizations 
  • Prior experience independently supporting a client org of at least 100+ employees
  • Willingness to take on a complex assignments
  • Operates independently and with good judgment
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing policies, procedures, priorities or work environments
  • Ability to understand and develop the relationships between business unit objectives and HR initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to positively influence others, develop relationships and coach leaders on many matters, with particular focus on leadership development
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and foster a performance culture
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to deal tactfully and confidently with internal and external customers
  • Strong bias for action, a keen sense of urgency and the ability to drive results
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills and understanding of executive conciseness
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Willing to travel
